5N6D – Leisure Trip & Island Hoping – South
Potential Itinerary for 6 days / 5 nights trip in Raja Ampat (Misool)
Arrive at Sorong Airport. Our crew will be waiting outside the arrival hall, they will escort you to the Pearl of Papua. After a 15 minute ride you will be onboard the vessel, cabin allocation and ship orientation will take place before departure, take this time to familiarize yourself with the facilities and make yourself comfortable. Lunch and dinner will be served while heading towards Raja Ampat National Park. Sorong to Misool is roughly a twelve hour journey.
Misool is one of the most fascinating areas of Raja Ampat. It contains an incredible array of underwater seascapes – deep ravines and canyons give way to unsurpassed coral coverage and unrivaled color. Don’t be surprised if you encounter Gorgonian Sea Fans exceeding 3 meters in diameter or manta rays with seven meter wingspans!
That said, while the seascape is truly breathtaking down in Misool, there is also much to be seen above the water line. From skull cairns to millennia-old rock art, caves to small mountains, Southern Raja Ampat has a wide assortment of activities to peak your interest. Brace yourself, adventuring off the beaten path is about to get real!
On the first day you will have the opportunity after breakfast to make the short climb up one of Babulol’s peaks. From above there is a lagoon that can be viewed, Danau Cinta. This lagoon is worth special mention as it is shaped like a heart – naturally! We will climb another of Babulol’s peaks, Bukit Harfat. Bukit Harfat is a wonderful place as it affords you the opportunity to view Misool’s limestone karsts in all their beauty
Snorkeling Spots: Love Potion No. 9, No Contest, Plateau
Activities: Trekking, view Babulol’s heart-shaped lagoon (Danau Cinta), Bukit Harfat, snorkeling
On the third day, you will be ushered to one of Misool’s famed sites, Magic Mountain. Here you may be lucky enough to snorkel with a number of giant manta rays, some nearing seven meters! After spending time with these gentle giants, the Pearl of Papua will head towards Fiabacet.
Fiabacet is Raja Ampat perfection. It is arguably one of the most beautiful reef systems on the planet. Nearly every inch of the substrate is covered in magnificent coral. You are sure to be impressed.
Snorkeling Spots: Magic Mountain, Tank Rock, Nudi Rock
Activities: Snorkeling, island hopping
Today will be spent exploring the Tomolol region. We will begin the day floating through an expansive cave system where you will be able to admire various stalactite and stalagmite formations at your leisure. After enjoying lunch on the boat we will then take an up-close look at millennia-old rock paintings and skull cairns.
Snorkeling Spots: Tomolol Cave, Tomolol Ridge
Activities: View ancient art at Goa Keramat, float through an extensive cave system, barbeque.
After breakfast we will hop in the speedboats and head towards Wagmab Cove. Once inside, you will be able to snorkel with potentially hundreds of jellyfish. There’s no need to worry about being stung, however, as over thousands of years this particular species has lost most of its nematocysts (the ‘stinging’ cells). Once you’ve had your fill of jellyfish, we will head into Wagmab’s Air Cave. Inside you will be able to view various stalagmite and stalactites that are still forming! Lunch will be served on the boat before hopping back in the speedboats to snorkel around one of Wagmab’s many lagoons. After lunch we will sail back to Sorong.
Snorkeling Spots: Danau Ubur-Ubur, Wagmab Cove, Razorback Rock
Activities: Swim with jellyfish, explore Wagmab’s Goa Tengkorak, snorkeling
After breakfast, prepare for disembarkation. Our staff will take you to the airport based on your flight schedule, from here you will be transferred to your next destination. Your cruise has ended and we certainly look forward to welcoming you onboard again.
